Here are the important updates and my assessment of them: Notice in addition to the automatic masking of people in the image it recognized there are chairs and a table. What’s new The Find Objects pane can find 20 different types of objects. I’ve had success using it on many different types of images. My feeling is that even if it fixes one important image that would otherwise be lost, it’s well worth it. I don’t know of anything else out there that can actually fix out of focus images, tackling different types of sharpness problems, whether it’s missed focus, motion blur, or even a combination, and using AI to do it.

And it has a had a pretty big upgrade, just since I did my most recent webinar in April. This latest upgrade (2.1) is free for current users. Wow! Sharpen AI has been amazing to me from the beginning but it sure has changed a lot, and for the better, since I first covered it in a webinar a little over a year ago. I bumped up the sharpness slider from what it suggested using Auto. Sharpen AI’s choice of using Stabilize mode surprised me a bit but worked better than my choice of Focus mode in the previous version. Using the updated Sharpen AI 2.1 I masked in just the eyes and a little to the lips and now it is tack sharp. I also used this image with the previous version so it was a good test for me.

Nothing's perfect in this world, except perhaps Bach, Coltrane, and Amarone, but those are other stories entirely. Wonderful stuff, Topaz! We look forward to what the future holds for this amazing company and their revolutionary software. This should be a valuable addition to any professionals arsenal of tools, or even to hobbyists and artists who want to print large with the best possible detail. This app does more than just the usual unsharp masking in either Photoshop or Affinity Photo it is actually adding details that are not in the originals, not just sharpening up what is there, but it does it intelligently and as naturally as possible. And for the short time I’ve been using them, I have had zero lock-ups and zero crashes, and they’ve had several updates over the last few weeks. All of the Topaz stuff works as plug-ins in Photoshop, or, as I am using them, as standalone applications. I would wholeheartedly recommend this software to any of my friends and fellow Pentaxians who are doing photo editing. It is incredibly impressive, even more impressive than what can be shown here.

Personally, this reviewer has gone all in and bought all of the Topaz software, it’s hard not to once you see with your own eyes what this stuff does to your images, full-size and at full resolution.

Since the last update, we’ve noticed a few crashes.

Taxing on the computer system, as the fan always comes on high.
